🔧 Total Window Makeover - Advanced Frame Edition Clearwater, FL

The Total Window Makeover - Advanced Frame Edition is a five-day advanced Window Craft workshop designed to train, refine, and equip artisans for high-level fieldwork. Set in Clearwater, Florida, this mission-intensive event combines hands-on restoration, sash making, glazing, frame repair, and finishing into one immersive experience. It’s not just a workshop — it’s a proving ground.

Participants will work side-by-side with seasoned leaders to master the most critical pillar of the trade: Mechanics to Primed Frame (M2P). By the end of the week, every component — sashes, moldings, frames — will be fully accounted for, restored or remade, and tuned, culminating in a complete window restoration using the Five Pillars of Window Craft.

This event is designed for those ready to engage at a higher level — artisans who can already move and are now ready to move together.

Daily Schedule – Total Window Makeover - Advanced Frame Edition

Each day of The Total Window Makeover - Advanced Frame Edition is structured to build upon the Five Pillars of Window Craft — starting with the most foundational work and culminating in fully assembled and tuned windows. This workshop is fast-paced, field-based, and deeply rooted in team collaboration.

Sunday, Sept 7 – Orientation & Setup

  • Team introductions, tool check, and site overview

  • Review of Five Pillars framework

  • Roles assigned and expectations clarified

 

Monday – Maker Monday

  • Sash making using the Sash Factory (joinery-focused)

  • Replication of damaged or missing sash

  • Pre-priming prep begins

 

Tuesday – Glazing Tuesday

  • Glazing of all new and repaired sash (S2G Pillar)

  • Oil-based priming and performance prep

  • Dry rack setup and curing optimization

 

Wednesday – Making Wednesday

  • Production and installation of parting beads, window stops, blind stops, and stools

  • Custom joinery for missing components

  • Prep for frame restoration (M2P continuation)

 

Thursday – Rebuild Thursday

  • Frame disassembly and repair (M2P Pillar)

  • Rot replacement, sill and jamb rebuilds

  • Reinstallation and tuning of frames

 

Friday – Finalized Friday

  • Finish coats (G2F / P2F Pillars)

  • Full window reassembly (A&T Pillar)

  • Hardware installation, cleaning, and project delivery

 

Saturday, Sept 13 – Wrap-Up & Hand-Off

  • Site breakdown and final walkthrough

  • Celebration and reflection

  • Closing ceremony: The Hand of Finish

  • You’re a carpenter, finisher, or craftsperson looking to adapt your skills to a meaningful, field-based trade

  • You’re considering joining or leading a Window Craft crew and want to prove your readiness

  • You’re willing to finish what you start, contribute to the group, and be marked by The Hand of Finish

  • You’re still unsure about your interest in hands-on restoration

  • You’re not ready to move, sweat, or adapt in the field

  • You prefer perfectionism over progress, or isolation over collaboration
